Yasir Shah has broken an 82-year-old record as he becomes the fastest bowler to reach 200 wickets in Tests. The leg-spinner achieved the feat in the third and final Test between Pakistan and New Zealand at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Kiwi nightwatchman Will Somerville was Yasir’s 200th Test victim. The leggie trapped Somerville in front of the wickets to pick his second wicket of the innings. On day three, Yasir moved a step closer towards the milestone after removing Kiwi opener Tom Latham. And now day four, he has achieved the feat. At the start of the third Test, Yasir needed five wickets to achieve the feat.
Yasir in the first innings of the final Test picked three wickets as New Zealand were bundled out for 274. Pakistan then responded with 348 and secured a valuable lead of 74 runs. At the close of play on day three, New Zealand were 26 for two and were trading Pakistan by 48 runs.
