Finally, the day has arrived for all the Women's Premier League (WPL) franchises to submit their retention and released player lists to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Originally, the deadline to submit the list was October 15, but later on, BCCI postponed the deadline till November 7. However, the WPL auction dates are yet to be announced. It is also expected that the third edition of the WPL tournament will take place next year in February-March. Mumbai Indians won the inaugural edition in 2023, followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who were crowned champions in the WPL 2024 season. WPL 2025 Retention Free Live Streaming Online and TV Telecast Channel: How to Watch Live Broadcast of Retentions by Women's Premier League Franchises Ahead of Auction?

What are WPL Retention and Auction Rules for all franchises?

The WPL retention rules state that all five franchises -- the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Giants, UP Warriorz, and Delhi Capitals are allowed to retain a set number of players in every edition. It is to be noted that all five sides are allowed to fill 18 players (six overseas and one from an associate nation) in their squad. After the player's retention and release are done, a mini-auction is conducted to fill the vacant slots. For the third edition of the WPL, the BCCI has increased the purse amount for the auction to INR 15 crore as compared to INR 12 crore in the 2023 season and INR 13.5 crore in the 2024 edition.
