Women’s Cricket Records: List of Highest Team Totals in ODIs
New Zealand becomes the only Women’s team to have scored the 400 plus total twice.
Even before the 400-run mark was breached in the Men’s One-Day Internationals (ODIs), Women’s cricket had witnessed the trend of high scores. The first instance of a men’s team reaching the 400-run mark was in 2006 when Australia scored 434 in the famous Johannesburg ODI. It was, however, bettered by South Africa as the home side chased down the record total in 49.5 overs. On the other hand, the first 400 plus score in Women’s ODI was scored in the 90s, 29 January 1997 to be precise. New Zealand Women’s team achieved the feat against Pakistan at Christchurch as they scored 455. Meanwhile, 21 years later, New Zealand Women’s team once again breached the 400-run mark. In fact, the. White Ferns fell just ten runs short of the 500-run mark as they finished with 490 for four on board against Ireland on Friday at Dublin. In the opening match of the three-match ODI series, New Zealand opting to bat first hammered Ireland bowlers.
Suzie Bates and Maddy Green scored 151 and 121 respectively to help their side post a monumental total. Besides the two, Jess Watkin and Amelia Kerr scored half-centuries. As it is evident the list is majorly dominated by New Zealand, Australia, and England Women’s cricket teams. India happens to be the only Asian team in the top 15 on the list. In 2017, Mithali Raj-led side scored 358 for two at Potchefstroom against Ireland.
