Women's Big Bash League 2019-20: Fire Alarm Interrupts Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers Match

Burnt toast caused a fire alarm which halted match between the Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers of Women Big Bash League (WBBL). The match was held at CitiPower Centre in Melbourne. The burnt toast from the player dressing room caused the alarm, which caused a delay in the play.

Burnt toast caused a fire alarm which halted match between the Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers of Women Big Bash League (WBBL), 2019-20. The match was held at CitiPower Centre in Melbourne on Oct 23, 2019. The burnt toast from the player dressing room caused the alarm, which caused a delay in the play. The problem was however sorted within 10 minutes with no reduction in overs. The fire alarm due to burnt toast forced everyone present inside the Cricket Victoria building, including scorers, commentators and even several Melbourne Stars players training to assemble outside.  When the area got vacated the Metropolitan Fire Brigade did their investigation and nothing much serious was discovered. When the players and audience came back they were chilled out with some cool music tracks.

This is not the first fire incident at this venue. earlier this month, play on the opening day of the Marsh Sheffield Shield match at the WACA Ground in Perth was suspended just before lunch after a small fire started behind the players’ pavilion. This was caused due to a small blaze in the air conditioning unit present at the back of the pavilion, even then the situation was quickly brought under control. Now speaking about Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers game, the latter won the match by 4 wickets as they chased down the target of 133 runs.
