Will Virat Kohli Play in Ranji Trophy 2024-25?

So here's the big question--will Virat Kohli play in Ranji Trophy 2024-25? After not having played in the Ranji Trophy since 2012, many will expect the premier batsman to make a comeback to domestic cricket and feature for Delhi in the upcoming edition of the tournament. But unfortunately, that might not be the case, as the chances of Virat Kohli's participation in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 are very slim. This is because of the Indian cricket team's packed international calendar. Virat Kohli Sweats Out Hard in Nets at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium Ahead of IND vs BAN 2nd Test 2024 (Watch Video).

Virat Kohli currently is with the Indian national cricket team, competing against the Bangladesh national cricket team in a two-match Test series, the first of which concluded just a few days ago in Chennai. The ex-India captain has hit the nets already and will be in action in the second Test which starts on September 27 in Kanpur. The Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season starts from October 11 and it is highly unlikely that Virat Kohli will play in the domestic competition because of international commitments.

The India vs Bangladesh Tests will be followed by a three-match T20I series, which starts from October 6. Kohli, who retired from T20Is earlier this year, will thus be out of action but will return when the Tests against New Zealand start 10 days later. The three-match Test series against New Zealand will be followed by the much-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, in which Virat Kohli is expected to play a big role and it starts from November 22.
