LBW Rules
The LBW dismissal is governed by certain rules which state when a batter is out or not. If the ball pitches outside the line of leg stump even if it is hitting the wickets, the batter is adjudged not out. Also, when a ball first hits the bat or glove before striking the pad, the batter will not be given out. If the ball hits pads directly but impact is outside the line of off stump, then batter will be given not out (batter must offer a shot). In case, the batter is struck on the pad in front of the stumps (barring outside leg stump) then batter will be given out. Batter could be given LBW out as well if the ball hits any part of the body in line with the stumps (except outside leg stump rule and hands), for example; feet, head or elbow. Whenever, a bowler bowls a no-ball, batter cannot be given LBW.
