Sixes and records fell like rain in Grenada on Wednesday, Feb 27, 2019. The total of 46 sixes were hit in this match, the maximum number of sixes in a single ODI. The previous record of maximum long hits in single ODI was held by India vs Australia in Bengaluru in 2013. Total of 24 sixes was hit by England which is the maximum by any team in a single inning, out of which 12 were hit by Jos Butler who played an entertaining knock of 150 runs in 77 deliveries.

West Indies were in a good position to chase down the total of 418 when Gayle and Darren Bravo were on the crease. However, after the dismissal of Bravo West Indies inning couldn't manage to continue the momentum. However, Carlos Brathwaite did score a half-century later, but it could not help the team to cross the massive target of 418 runs. West Indies lost to England by 28 runs, as they were all out to 389 runs in 48 overs. This inning involved Chris Gayle 162 runs in 97 balls which included 14 maximums. This was Chris Gayle fastest hundred, as he took just 51 balls to reach his century. Chris Gayle now has more than 300 ODI sixes in his account and a total of more than 500 sixes in International cricket.

The southpaw inning proved that he still has a lot of cricket left in him and his fitness level is up to the mark to spend some more time in International cricket — Gayle after his six laden innings of 162 hints at 'un-retirement'. Chris Gayle also crossed 10,000 ODI runs and became the second Windies batsman to achieve this feat after Brian Lara.

The Jamaican batsman was however unhappy with the defeat in 4th ODI as he felt that they could have easily managed a victory. He said that they were unable to utilise the new ball when he referred to England's opening stand of 100 runs in just 14 overs. He further stated that their side is disappointed with the defeat and hopes to come back strong in the last ODI of the series. England now lead the series with 2-1, let see whether they can end up winning the series or sharing the trophy with West Indies.
