'We Should Remove All-Rounder Tag From Hardik Pandya', Says Harbhajan Singh Ahead of Third Test Match Against England
After his initial good performances in Test Cricket and aggressive batting style, many compared him to the former Indian great Kapil Dev. Is Hardik Pandya overrated?
The Indian team is facing turbulent times on the tour of England currently. The team has lost two matches already and is 2-0 in the five-match Test match series. The losses hadn’t have hurt that deep if the team performances would have been that of the number 1 Test team – not to forget that India is currently ranked 1.
The Indian think-tank is looking for solutions, the fans are frustrated, and so are the cricket pundits. Any and every thing, tactic, and player are being questioned at the moment, and rightly so.
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh came down heavily on all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Talking to a news channel Aaj Tak, Harbhajan said, “We have to remove the all-rounder tag from him as an all-rounder contributes in both the departments as Stokes, Curran did in the first Test, and now Woakes has done at the Lord’s. The same is expected of Hardik Pandya; he cannot become Kapil Dev overnight!”
After his initial good performances in Test Cricket and aggressive batting style, many compared him to the former Indian great Kapil Dev. However, Harbhajan was quite abrasive with the comparison. The former Indian spinner, instead, compared him with England’s all-rounders Ben Stokes, Sam Curran and Chris Woakes.
In the two Test matches, Hardik Pandya has scored only 68 runs in the four innings that he played in England, which also includes a duck in the first Test match at Birmingham. While bowling, Pandya has managed to take three wickets in the series so far.
Should Ravindra Jadeja will get a look ahead of Hardik Pandya is for skipper Virat Kohli to decide. India will play against England in the third Test match at Trent Bridge. Stay tuned with us for all the latest updates about India vs England Test Series 2018!
