WAGs to be Allowed to Stay With Indian Cricket Team, News Was Fake, BCCI Confirms, 'They Will Take More Time to Take the Final Decision'
For a couple of days now, there has been news circulating that the BCCI has taken a final decision on WAGs being allowed to stay with cricketers during the overseas tours.
For a couple of days now, there has been news circulating that the BCCI has taken a final decision on WAGs being allowed to stay with cricketers during the overseas tours. It was also reported that the BCCI agreed to Virat Kohli’s plea of letting the wives stay with the cricketers as it creates a positive environment. But, Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Edulji said that the BCCI is likely to take more time on coming to a final conclusion and all the news circulating in the media are false. The BCCI is contemplating to hear a few more opinions on the issue from various people. BCCI Agrees to Virat Kohli’s Plea, Will Allow WAGS to Stay Put With Players For Entire Overseas Tour, But After First Ten Days.
According to Edulji, the policy decision cannot be changed overnight and the BCCI needs to be more careful while making any changes as the board just can’t finalise on anything going by one person’s view. They need a broader perspective on the issue. “The board hasn’t taken any decision. As of now, the current policy of the board remains. It’s a policy decision which can’t be changed overnight,” said Edulji. Though she did admit that the topic came up in during the meeting and they had a casual conversation over the same.
She also went on to say that the other members of the board will be consulted.“It came up during the meeting and we had a general discussion. It cannot be based on one person’s view, some may be comfortable, some maybe not. The decision should not cause any problem. We are going to consult the other members of the Indian team,” she explained.
