Yesterday, Virender Sehwag stepped down from the role of a mentor from Kings XI Punjab and sent a wave of shock amongst his fans. He took to social media to make an announcement about him making an exit from the team. He took to Twitter and wrote, “All good things must come to an end and I've had a wonderful time at Kings 11 Punjab, for 2 seasons as a player and 3 as a mentor. My association with Kings 11 comes to an end and I am thankful for the time I have had here and wish the team all the very best for the times ahead.” IPL 2019: Virender Sehwag STEPS DOWN As Kings XI Punjab Mentor, Thanks Franchise in Heartwarming Message.
Now, Virender Sehwag spoke to a newspaper and said that it was the decision of the KXIP management and he had no role in the decision-making process. Sehwag went on to say that he got an email from the team management that they do not want a team ambassador and a mentor. The Sultan of Multan also feels that it had nothing to do with the reported infamous spat with the owner of KXIP Preity Zinta after the team lost to Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2018. “I’ve received a mail from the franchise stating that they won’t be needing a brand ambassador and a mentor. I was happy being part of the Kings XI Punjab team. It was their decision, so I had no role in the decision-making process. I don’t think the incident (with Preity) had anything to do with my exit. If they want to have a new mentor or a new ambassador, it is up to them,” he told a newspaper.
