The Indian cricket captain hammered 157 runs from 129 balls with 13 fours and four sixes. He went on to break several records created by the cricketing greats including Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni, AB De Villiers Sanath Jayasuriya, Ricky Ponting and many others. After scoring his century last evening, the Indian captain had a unique way to celebrate the same. Kohli did ‘let the bat do the talking gesture’ on reaching his century.
Kohli being an emotional person, celebrates and expresses his emotions quite openly on the field. Sometimes, his feeling are quite intense and he also vents them out without any hesitation. Kohli also walked away with the Man of the Match award for the 18th time and broke MS Dhoni’s feat. The former Indian captain had 17 Man of the Match awards. With this, Kohli went on to become the fastest batsmen to get to 1,000 runs in a calendar year. The Indian captain took only 11 innings to reach the mark. The record was previously held by South Africa’s Hashim Amla who took 15 innings in 2010. Kohli had taken 15 innings, too, to score as many runs in 2012.
