It is hard to keep Virat Kohli out of the game. The Indian skipper during the four-day practice match against Cricket Australia XI ahead of the first Test tried his hand at the bowling and did not disappoint. The Indian captain picked a wicket and then celebrated it in a funny way. The video apparently has now gone viral. On fourth day of the game, Kohli removed centurion Harry Nielsen to pocket a wicket. Nielsen, who faced 170 deliveries, was caught at mid-on by Umesh Yadav and was CA XI’s eighth wicket to fell. The Indian captain then celebrated the fall of a wicket in a hilarious way. Even, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to Twitter and shared an image. BCCI wrote, “That moment when the Skip gets a wicket #TeamIndia #CAXIvsIND.”
Responding to India’s first innings total of 358 runs, CA XI scored mammoth 544 thanks to Nielsen’s century and half-centuries each by D Arcy Short, Max Bryant and Aaron Hardie. As Indian bowlers had to toil hard, the skipper decided to share some workload. Kohli bowled seven overs and returned with figures of 1/27. Apart from him, Mohammad Shami picked three wickets while Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah chipped in with a wicket each. Spinner Ashwin scalped two wickets.
The India’s one-off warm-up match ended in a draw after India scored 211 for two on day four. Opener Murali Vijay smashed an impressive century while KL Rahul contributed 62. The first Test between India and Australia starts on December 06 at the Adelaide Oval.
