It has become a common sight these days to see Virat Kohli break records after records with his breathtaking display of batting form. In another instance on Day 2 of India vs Australia Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Virat Kohli went past Rahul Dravid and became the highest scoring Indian batsman on foreign soil in a calendar year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter, in announcing the record-breaking feat. In its tweet, BCCI wrote, “STAT ALERT! With 82 runs today, @imVkohli (Virat Kohli) has surpassed Rahul Dravid (1137) to register most number of runs in a calendar year in overseas Tests #KingKohli.”

Rahul Dravid had scored 1,137 runs in 11 Test matches for India in the calendar year 2002. Dravid had hit four centuries and four half-centuries, while amassing the runs at an average of 66.88. As for Virat Kohli, he has scored 1138 runs in 11 Tests he has played in 2018 so far. Kohli has hit four centuries too; though, he has five half-centuries against his name. Kohli has scored at an average of 54.19 this year.
