In a major development, Virat Kohli has taken a short break after the IPL and might miss India's only warm-up match against Bangladesh. Kohli was in red-hot form in IPL 2024 and finished the tournament with a massive 741 runs from 15 matches, averaging 61.75 and striking at an impressive 154.69 and his performance was one of the main reasons why his franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had a dream run and made it to the Eliminator, where they lost to Rajasthan Royals. According to a report in The Indian Express, Kohli sought a break and informed the BCCI about the same. The report also quoted a BCCI source, who stated that Kohli will board the flight to New York on May 30 and the Indian cricket board has agreed to his request. Furthermore, not just Kohli but also Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson and Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya will also join the Indian team later. It is to be kept in mind that a first batch of Indian cricketers have already left for the T20 World Cup in USA, the likes of which include skipper Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant among others. The second group of Indian cricketers will leave for the USA on Monday (May 27). India placed in Group A, start their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Ireland on June 5 before taking on Pakistan in a blockbuster showdown on June 9.
