Virat Kohli Surpasses Sachin Tendulkar to Become Fastest Batsman to Score 19,000 International Runs, Achieves Feat During Ind vs Aus 4th Test

Not just 19,000, Virat Kohli in September last year was the fastest to 18,000 international runs as well and it took the Indian captain just 16 innings to race from 18k to 19k.

Virat Kohli, who is breaking records with ease, is catching fast with legendary Sachin Tendulkar. On day one of the fourth Test between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) Kohli surpassed Tendulkar to add another feather to his already glowing cap. Kohli now is the fastest to reach 19,000 international runs. Though Kohli had a poor outing at SCG, he managed to break Tendulkar’s record. Kohli now is the fastest to 19,000 international runs followed by Tendulkar. West Indies' Brian Lara (433), Australia's Ricky Ponting (444) and South Africa's Jacques Kallis (458) complete the top five. Not just 19,000, Kohli in September last year was the fastest to 18,000 international runs as well. It took the Indian captain just 16 innings to race from 18k to 19k. Majority of the 19,000 runs have come in ODIs for Kohli, 10,232 to be precise, at an average of 59.83. Kohli is also nearing Tendulkar’s record of 100 international centuries (51 Tests and 49 ODIs). The current Indian skipper has 25 and 38 centuries in Tests and ODIs respectively and is tipped to break Tendulkar’s record.

Meanwhile, India finished the day one of the fourth Test on 303/4 with Cheteshwar Pujara scoring an unbeaten 130. Apart from him Mayank Agarwal, who is two Tests old, scored valuable 77 at the top. Kohli, however, managed just 23 runs as he was caught off Josh Hazlewood.
