Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli scored his first century in England, on Day 2 of the first Test Match against England. Skipper Kohli was the lone survivor in the Indian ranks, as he was the only batsman to cross the 30-run mark in the line-up and eventually went on to score a gritty century.

Kohli was running out of partners in the middle as the England bowlers were chipping away wickets regularly. The middle order collapsed as Ben Stokes, and Sam Curran bowled exceptionally well to ensure that there wasn’t any steady partnership in Indian innings. James Anderson took a couple of wickets too, as he was rewarded for his hard work, all-day along.

Only Hardik Pandya showed some resistance, while others were sitting ducks for the English bowlers. Not to forget the invaluable support provided by R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, and Umesh Yadav who hung in there, while Kohli was accumulating runs on the other end.

Kohli, himself survived a couple of chances in the match. The slip cordon couldn’t latch on to a couple of half-chances and simple catches, which saw the Indian captain, make the most of those reprieves.

In his hard-fighting century, Kohli hit a total of 15 boundaries during the day. Kohli slashed a full delivery towards the fence and brought up his century; one of his best centuries of all time.

With this century, Kohli has become the fourth Indian captain after Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, Mohammad Azharuddin, and Sourav Ganguly to score a century in England. His first century in England is also his 22nd Test Century overall.

The Indian team was trailing by 44 runs when the reports last came in. Virat Kohli was unbeaten on 118 runs with Umesh Yadav providing worthy support on the other end. Stay tuned with us for all the latest updates and live score of India vs England 1st Test Match!
