Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Super Giants in a low-scoring Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. Following the game, RCB batter Virat Kohli had a heated exchange with LSG bowler Naveen-ul-Haq. Earlier in the match Royal Challengers Bangalore made 126-9 in their 20-over quota after winning the toss. Opener Virat Kohli 31(30), Faf du Plessis 44(40) and wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik 16(11) were the only RCB players who managed to get into the double figures. Afghan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq took three wickets while Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra picked up two each.

Lucknow suffered a huge setback when KL Rahul got injured while fielding. On a sluggish pitch where the ball was not coming onto the bat, Rahul's absence at the top order became fatal for LSG. Their innings never got any momentum as RCB manage to bundle them out for 108. Karn Sharma and Josh Hazlewood picked up two wickets for the visitors. Meanwhile, Krishnappa Gowtham 23(13) was the top scorer for LSG.

Now this was a statement victory for RCB who earlier lost their first-leg match against LSG at home. After that match, LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir silenced the RCB crowd with the 'finger on lips celebration'. So when RCB won the return leg, things got even uglier.

Virat Kohli shared a heated altercation with Naveen-ul-Haq and Gautam Gambhir. Kohli and Gambhir have been already fined 100 per cent of their match fees due to this. With this win, RCB now have ten points from nine matches and are currently in the 5th position in the table. Meanwhile, LSG despite the loss remain in the 3rd place. Both teams are well in the race for the IPL 2023 playoffs and we might see a third round between them in the near future.
