In one of the strange coincidences, both Indian and West Indies captains were out for a golden duck during the second One-Day International (ODI) in Vishakhpatnam. Indian skipper Virat Kohli was out for a golden duck in the first innings when he was caught by Roston Chase off Kieron Pollard. Interestingly, Pollard himself registered a golden duck later on as Mohammed Shami had him caught behind. This now becomes the first instance of both the captains registering a golden duck in an ODI match. However, this was not the first time that both the captains were dismissed for a duck in an ODI match and has on eleven occasions before today. While Kohli came in to bat number three, Pollard made it to the middle at number six.
Meanwhile, this the third time Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck in his ODI career. The last time he was removed for a golden duck was in 2013 against England in Dharamsala. In 2011, Kohli’s was dismissed for his first golden duck at Antigua against West Indies.
