India was blazing guns today at The Oval, London against Australia in the CWC 2019 tie. The Australian team was already down as they could not get wickets and just then Steve Smith faced the heat of the crowd while standing alongside the boundary. No sooner the Australian stood there for fielding, the crowd started chanting, “Cheater cheater.” This jibe was made in context to the sandpaper gate which happened last year. David Warner and Smith were banned for a year due to the act. However, the action by the crowd did not go down well with the Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli who was batting for India.  India vs Australia Cricket Score 14th ODI Match.

Just when Kohli heard the chants, he turned to the crowds and gestured the people to not do so. Instead, he asked the crowd to clap for Smith. An Australian journalist spoke about this incident on social media. He posted a snap of a picture of Steve Smith alongside the boundary. “Wow. How good is this from Virat Kohli? Steve Smith is sent to field on the boundary and immediately cops the most hideous boos from the Indian fans. So Kohli turns to that stand and gestures for them to clap Smith. #CWC19.”
