Making and breaking records for Virat Kohli in international cricket is nothing new. The Indian captain has managed to break a slew of records in all the three formats of the game, in the last five years. Kohli’s stupendous form across the formats has seen him being regarded as one of the best of cricketers in the modern time.

As India beat Australia in the second match of the ODI series, King Kohli walloped to a record of his own. This year, Virat Kohli scored a match-winning century against Australia in Sydney. Kohli scored 104 runs of 112 balls – the knock which became the foundation of India’s victory in the match. Last year on January 15, Virat Kohli had scored a century too, but this time it was in a Test format. The Indian captain then scored 153 runs at a strike rate of 70.15. Kohli hit 15 fours in his innings; however, India failed to register a victory in the match, where South Africa won it by 135 runs.

In 2017, Virat Kohli had hit a century on January 15 too. The flamboyant right-handed batsman had then scored 122 runs off 105 balls at an impressive strike rate of 116.19. The innings included eight fours and five sixes in his innings which saw the Indian team chase down the target of 351 runs set by England easily.

Call it a coincidence or whatever; it seems that the day, i.e. January 15 is lucky for Virat Kohli. It is a unique record which the stylish batsman has against his name. It will be interesting to see if he can score another century on the same day or not, provided India has a fixture on the mentioned date, next year.

For now, the Indian team under the leadership of Virat Kohli, would be a series victory against the hosts, as they are set to lock horns again on January 18. The series is currently levelled at 1-1 it will be interesting to see the final match on Friday, which will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
