Flashback to India’s tour England in 2014. Virat Kohli’s struggle outside the off-stump was something England bowlers took full use of. Kohli had a poor run in the five Test matches back then and could manage only 134 runs with an average of 13.40. Kohli’s highest score in the Test series was just 39 and during his 10 innings' he was mostly dismissed while fishing outside the off-stump. Something, Pakistan took advantage of during the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final.

Meanwhile, as India prepare for the first Test, starting August 01, Kohli during a practice match against Essex was dismissed once again while trying to chase a ball wide outside off-stump. Kohli’s dismissal does remind one the disastrous tour of England in 2014. However, before being dismissed Kohli, coming in at five, scored 68.

The Indian captain lasted 93 balls and during his stay, the right-hander collected 12 fours. He then fell to fast-bowler Paul Walter’s delivery while trying to go for a cover drive. The ball was pitched outside off-stump and was going away from Kohli, who edged towards Varun Chopra who was placed at the second slip. India vs Essex: Shikar Dhawan Sent Packing on the First Ball, Cheteshwar Pujara Walks Back After 7 Balls (Watch Video).
