Yesterday India might have won the game against Bangladesh and sealed a spot in the semi-finals of the CWC 2019, but bad news awaits all of us as the Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli could be ruled out of a couple of games due to his on-field behaviour with the umpires. Kohli got into an argument with the on-field umpires during India vs Bangladesh at the Edgbaston Cricket Stadium in Birmingham. The Indian cricket captain lost his cool after the umpires did not uphold India’s review in the 11th over of the game and adjudged Soumya Sarkar as not out. This did not go down well with Kohli and he got into a verbal spat with the on-field umpire Marais Erasmus.  Virat Kohli Argues With Umpire After DRS Against Soumya Sarkar Goes Wrong During IND vs BAN CWC19 Match.

Now, this could invite a couple of four demerit points and as per ESPNCricinfo, once a player gets four demerit points within 24 months, he gets one Test or two ODIs ban. If he gets eight demerit points within 24 months, the ban also doubles.

As one may recall, Kohli was fined 25% match fees was given one demerit point during India vs Afghanistan. Kohli was fined for excessive appealing during the match against Afghanistan on June 23rd, 2019.

If the on-field umpires decide to take an action on Virat Kohli’s behaviour, the Indian cricket captain would invite a ban for the next two games which could be against Sri Lanka and the first semi-final. If something like this happens it would be a massive blow for the team. However, the decision is yet to be made.
