Former India captain and Delhi Capitals’ mentor has rated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli higher than him when it comes to captaincy skills. Even though Kohli-led RCB were the first team to miss out on a playoffs berth, Ganguly feels he is exceptional. The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain believes that it is not fair to judge Kohli by T20 captaincy.  CSK vs DC, IPL 2019 Match 50, Key Players: Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir, Shikhar Dhawan and Other Cricketers to Watch Out for MA Chidambaram Stadium.

“Exceptional. His record for India is phenomenal. Don’t judge him by his T20 captaincy; his captaincy for India has been terrific. He is better than Dada. Kohli is better than Dada,” he said while speaking exclusively to Sportskeeda.

Ganguly was also asked about Vijay Shankar’s inclusion in the Indian cricket team for ICC World Cup 2019. Ganguly felt that Shankar will do the job but at the same time, he feels for Ambati Rayudu to have missed out. Shreyas Gopal Hat-Trick Video: Watch Rajasthan Royals Spinner Dismiss Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Marcus Stoinis in a Row

“Both are good. The selectors have gone for Vijay Shankar. The debate is over there. We wish him all the luck. Somebody plays and someone misses out. I feel for Ambati Rayudu, but I think Vijay Shankar will do the job. He is a good cricketer, he can bowl in those conditions. He has earned his place in the squad,” Ganguly further added.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have made it to the playoffs of IPL after a gap of seven years. Both coach Ricky Ponting and Ganguly have been credited for the team’s success. Capitals have thus far won eight out of 12 matches and are currently on top of IPL 2019 points table.
