Virat Kohli Becomes First Indian Batsman to Score 3 Consecutive Centuries in ODIs, Achieves Milestone During IND vs WI in Pune

Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli added one more feather to his already shining cap. During the third One-Day International (ODI) between India and the West Indies, Kohli scored his career’s 38th ODI century. This was Kohli’s third consecutive ton in ODIs and with it, he becomes the first batsman to achieve the feat. In the opening ODI at Guwahati, the Indian captain scored 140 and then followed it up with unbeaten 157 at Visakhapatnam. And now goes past the three-figure mark in Pune as well. Former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara has the most number of consecutive ODI centuries against his name. The wicketkeeper-batsman during his glorious career scored four back to back tons. Kohli for sure will be looking to equal Sangakkara’s record in next match. Meanwhile, Kohli joins Zaheer Abbas, Saeed Anwar, Herschelle Gibbs, AB de Villiers, Quinton de Kock, Ross Taylor, Babar Azam, and Jonny Bairstow.

 Interestingly, this is for the second time Kohli has scored three centuries in an ODI series. Earlier, against South Africa in South Africa, he scored three tons. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman have also registered three centuries in a series in the past.

Meanwhile, Kohli becomes only second batsman to score four consecutive centuries in India in ODIs. At the time of writing this report, Kohli after fighting a lone battle was back in the hutch. Marlon Samuels accounted for his wicket as the India captain scored 107 off 199 balls. Opting to field first, India were set a target of 284 runs by Windies. India leads the three-matches series 1-0 after second ODI ended in a tie.
