Virat Kohli, the man of records, added another record to his name, when he scored his 10,000th ODI run in the second one-day match against West Indies, on Wednesday. West Indies managed to secure a draw in the game; however, the highlight of the day was Kohli becoming the fastest batsman to reach the 10,000-run mark in ODI format.

The social media had a field day, and the Indian skipper drew applause from all quarters. Former cricketers and current players across the globe congratulated Virat Kohli on breaking the record previously held by Sachin Tendulkar.

The Master Blaster himself joined the chorus and seemed quite sporty while wishing the Indian captain on his reaching the landmark figure. Sachin Tendulkar, on his Twitter account, wrote, “The intensity and consistency with which you bat is just amazing. @imVkohli, congratulations on achieving 10,000 runs in ODIs. Keep the runs flowing.”

Here’s what Sachin Tendulkar had to Say after Virat Kohli Broke his Record:

The Nawab of Najafgarh didn’t hold himself back in heaping praise on Virat Kohli. On his Twitter account, Virender Sehwag wrote, “Software update all the time. Virat Kohli has redefined what consistency means. Got his 9000th ODI run just 11 innings ago and got his 10000th today, to go with his 37th century. Enjoy the phenomena #KingKohli.”

Here’s how Virender Sehwag Wished Virat Kohli on Reaching 10,000th ODI Run:

Virat Kohli went onto hit a stylish 150+ score in the match, but the talking point in the night remained about his record-breaking innings. Kohli took 205 innings to reach the 10,000th run in ODIs, going past the record previously held by Sachin Tendulkar, who had achieved the monumental figure in 259 innings.

Shai Hope and Shimron Heymyer gatecrashed Virat Kohli’s party as the duo ensured that West Indies managed to tie the match at least, if not win it. The nail-biting finish did ensure that the Windies team are alive and kicking in the ODI series after a brutal squash in the recently concluded Test series. However, with all said and done, Virat Kohli has added another feather to his already studded cap!
