Virat Kohli became the fastest batsman in the history of cricket to reach 11,000 ODI runs in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). The Indian skipper, who registered his 51st ODI half-century during India vs Pakistan clash in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, broke Sachin Tendulkar’s 16-year-old record in the process. While Tendulkar achieved the feat in 276 innings, Kohli took just 222 innings to reach the landmark. Former Australian World Cup-winning skipper Ricky Ponting is third on the illustrious list having reached the feat in 286 innings. Sourav Ganguly (288 innings) is the only other Indian cricketer to complete the landmark. Three Sri Lankan cricketers Kumar Sangakkara (318 innings), Sanath Jayasuriya (354 innings) and Mahela Jayawardene (368 innings) have done it before. Earlier, Kohli could have achieved the feat during India’s earlier match against New Zealand. But the match has to be abandoned without even the toss taking place due to rain. Kohli in the process also completed his 51st ODI half-century and second fifty against Pakistan. He is also the fastest batsman in the world to complete 1000, 5000, 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000 and 10,000 ODI runs.

Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant 140 runs to put India in commanding position against Pakistan. The right-handed opening batsman first stitched a 136-run opening partnership with KL Rahul before registering his 24th ODI century. Rahul also chipped in with 67 runs to help India cross the 300-run mark.
