Vinod Rai Speaks About Virat Kohli & Anil Kumble Rift, Says, If It Had Happened Today, Sourav Ganguly Would Have Thrust Kumble Down Virat’s Throat’

Vinod Rai has spoken about the infamous rift between Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble which dominated the headlines in 2017 where the former Indian captain left the duties of the coach after which the BCCI was forced to find a replacement. Now, head of the BCCI's Committee of Administrators (CoA) Vinod Rai has spoken about the rift and said had that incident happened today, Sourav Ganguly would have thrust Kumble down Virat’s throat. In the interview, he further said that the coach is more indispensable in the dressing room and the dirty linen got washed in public. “The same thing arose with the issue of Mithali Raj and Ramesh Powar. Dissonance in the dressing room and we had to fall back on CAC again. There was so much controversy. Who could have handled it better? If this had happened today, Sourav would have thrust Kumble down Virat’s throat. But it could have created more tensions. I respected Kumble because he walked out," said Rai.

The head of COA further said that Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly also spoke to Kohli and pursued him to continue with Kumble, but the India cricket captain did not agree. If one may recall, Kumble put out a post on social media and went on to reveal that the captain had a problem with his style and it was best for him to move on. He also thanked the fans and the BCCI for giving him the opportunity
