Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun, made is India U19 debut today against Sri Lanka U19 at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground in Colombo. Arjun, who bowls left-arm pace, in his second over scalped his maiden wicket to begin his India representation on a positive note. Arjun dismissed Sri Lankan U19 opener Kamil Mishara leg before wicket (lbw). Ever since Arjun was named in the India U19 squad for Sri Lanka Youth Tests, all eyes were on him.

“Tears of joy rolled down when I saw this, have seen him grow up and put in the hard work in his game. Could not be more happy for you, Arjun. This is just the beginning, I wish you tons and ton of success in the days to come. Cherish your first wicket and enjoy the moment,” Kambli tweeted.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka U19 were bowled out for 244 in their first innings. Arjun could only manage to pick just one wicket and gave away 33 runs from 11 overs. Harsh Tyagi and Ayush Badoni picked four wickets each. At the time of writing this report, India U19 had responded positively and openers had put 74.

The Indian U19 is on Sri Lankan tour and will play two Youth Tests (four-day) apart from five one-dayers. Arjun, however, has been selected for the two Youth Tests only.
