India all rounder Vijay Shankar suffered a blow to his body after a deadly yorker by Jasprit Bumrah hit Shankar during the practice session. The incident reportedly took place on June 19, Wednesday. This is the third injury scare that India have faced in the ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2019 so far. Earlier, India lost opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan to a thump injury that he sustained during the India vs Australia match in ICC CWC 2019. India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also injured and  is expected to miss the next match. Shankar, while batting in the nets, was hit by a yorker from India's leading pacer Jasprit Bumrah, said reports. The all rounder reportedly badly hurt his toes, according to a PTI report. Shankar became the apple of everyone's eye after he provided the first breakthrough during the India vs Pakistan match on Sunday at Old Trafford, Manchester. The all rounder also dismissed Pakistan captain skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed. It was Shankar's world cup debut.

Prolific India batsman Shikhar Dhawan has already exited the world cup due to a thump injury. The Southpaw, who hit a century in the match against Australia, was hit by a Pat Cummins delivery on his thump en route his hundred. It was announced on Wednesday that Shikhar would no longer be part of India's World Cup campaign. Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been called as his replacement.

India have played four matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 so far. India beat South Africa, Australia and Pakistan in the earlier games and the match against New Zealand had to be abandoned due to rain. India next take on Afghanistan on June 22 at Southampton.
