Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) got off to a disappointing start in the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 facing a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In addition to that a video showing RCB captain Virat Kohli instructing teammate and fast bowler Umesh Yadav to aim for rival batsman Andre Russell’s head is quite shocking for viewers. He was caught on camera asking Umesh to use more short deliveries and trouble KKR’s dashing batsman at the crease. However, despite bouncers keeping Andre quite for some time, Kohli’s tactics was not enough to avert the inevitable defeat.

A video was released by the official website of Indian Premier League with the caption - "Aim for the head", says Virat followed by a description, “Andre Russell on the crease and Captain Virat Kohli had his plan clear for the big hitter. Go for the bouncer - his instructions to Umesh Yadav”. The incident took place in the 16th over of Kolkata Knight Riders innings with the side chasing a target of 177 set by RCB.

Andre Russell and KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik were at the crease cruising comfortably towards the set total when pacer Umesh Yadav targeted the West Indies player by bowling bouncer. The dashing batsman looked struggling a bit against the short balls, a ploy opponent captain Kohli wanted to encash more in the game. He was seen telling Umesh Yadav to bowl more deliveries aimed at Russell’s head.

Go for the kill (read: win) has been Virat Kohli’s motto on the field and it should not be new visual for spectators watching the star batsman using every weapon from his arsenal to win the game. The match also saw the aggressive natured Kohli indulge in wild celebrations at the falling wickets of Kolkata. Nevertheless, it was KKR who had the last laugh as they beat RCB with four wickets remaining. West Indies’ Sunil Narine gave an all-round performance (50 off 19 and 1/30) to take top place IPL 2018 points table.
