Prasad has many achievements to his name but the most famous moment of his career is the one when he gave a strong answer to Pakistan batsman Aamer Sohail during ICC Cricket World Cup 1996. In reply to Aamer Sohail's sledging in during his over, Prasad dismissed the Pakistan right-handed batsman. The match was played at M Chinnaswamy cricket stadium in Bengaluru and Pakistan were chasing a huge 289-run target, set by India batting first. Aamer Sohail was looking good with the bat and in order to break Venkatesh Prasad's focus, he sledged him after hitting him for a boundary over covers. Sohail signalled his hand towards covers where he hit the boundary teasing Prasad. But Prasad did not lose his focus and he bowled Sohail on the very next ball. After dismissing him by removing his off stump, Prasad showed the way out of the ground to Pakistan's opener. Venkatesh hits back at Sohail

Happy Birthday Venkatesh Prasad!", Indian Cricket Team wrote along with the video on Instagram. Sohail's 55-run knock went in vain a Pakistan remained 39 runs short of the target and India emerged victorious. Prasad played for India from 1994 to 2001. He played 33 Test matches bagging 96 wickets in 58 innings. In ODIs, he took 196 wickets in 160 innings. He retired from all forms of cricket in 2005. He was the coach of under-19 Indian team which was runner-up in U-19 Cricket World Cup.
