VB Chandrasekhar Committed Suicide? Reports Claim Former Chennai Super Kings Team Director Died After Hanging Self From Ceiling Fan

Cricket fraternity went into shock after hearing about the death of former India opener VB Chandrasekhar. Chandrasekhar, who was former operations director of IPL franchisee Chennai Super Kings, committed suicide according to a report.

Cricket fraternity went into shock after hearing about the death of former India opener VB Chandrasekhar. Chandrasekhar, who was former team director of IPL franchisee Chennai Super Kings, committed suicide according to a report by Times of India. TOI quoted policemen as saying that Chandrasekhar’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his residence in Mylapore on Thursday. VB Chandrasekhar Dies: Sachin Tendulkar, Stephen Fleming and Other Members From Cricket Fraternity Pay Condolences to Ex-Chennai Super Kings Team Director. 

TOI quoted a police inspector as saying that Chandrasekhar did not leave any suicide note. Chandrasekhar’s wife Soumya told police that she had knocked on the door of his room but he did not respond. She then looked inside from the windows and found him hanging from the ceiling fan. She also told police that her husband incurred many losses in his cricket business. Chandrasekhar's body was sent to Royapettah hospital for post-mortem.

BCCI and cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Stephen Fleming, Scott Styris among others paid condolences to the former Indian cricketer.  Chandrasekhar owned a Tamil Nadu Premier League team- VB Kanchi Veerans. He also has a cricket academy VB's Next in Velachery.

Chandrasekhar represented India in 7 ODIs. He was part of the Tamil Nadu Ranji team which won in 1987. During Irani Trophy 1988, he smashed a 56-ball century to take Tamil Nadu to victory against Rest of India. He also played for Goa.  He scored 4999 runs in his first-class career. He also served as Tamil Nadu’s coach in 2012-13. He also took the role of a national selector, state coach and commentator. In the inaugural IPL auction, he made the winning bid of USD 1.5 million for MS Dhoni.
