United States of America (USA) on Friday made their T20 International debut at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. The USA cricket team is currently on tour of United Arab Emirates (UAE) and faced the home side in the first of the two-match T20I series. However, the match was abandoned due to the rain. UAE offered the USA to bat first and the visitors managed to score 152 for seven in 15 overs. USA Cricket Announced as ICC's 105th Member.

In response, UAE lost two wickets for just 29 runs in 3.3 overs before heavens opened up. The UAE were set a revised target of 143 in 13 overs. Though there was no result in the match, the USA became the 28th nation to play men’s T20I.

USA’s inclusion was approved by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in January 2019 and became ICC’s 105th member. "Of course, it's the first T20 International USA is playing, so we want to win, so winning is important, but having said that, at the end of this year there's a big tournament coming up, the T20 global qualifier and regional qualifiers. So we want to see what is our best combination and best players for that version,” USA coach Pubudu Dassanayake was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
