The International League T20, commonly known as ILT20, is not set to receive List A T20 status, as was confirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). One of the upcoming new T20 leagues, the ILT20 has attracted some big names from all over the globe but their performances will not be counted in formal T20 records or List A cricket. This is because the UAE is not a full member of the ICC and according to the cricket governing body, a tournament that is organized by a country that is not a full member, cannot be given the status of List A cricket. Rishabh Pant To Be Shifted to Mumbai Today for Further Treatment, Informs DDCA Director Shyam Sharma.

As per a report in The Cricketer, the ICC confirmed their stance to statisticians about records made/broken in the ILT20 not being accorded official status. As a result of this, any record that is made in the inaugural edition of the tournament will be used as, ‘miscellaneous’ in the databases of statisticians. The Cricketer also quotes an ICC spokesperson saying, “The UAE ILT20 has been sanctioned by the ICC but List A T20 status will not be granted to this event as it does not meet the criteria in the regulations.” Adam Zampa Attempts to ‘Mankad’ Run-Out Tom Rogers, TV Umpire Adjudges Non-Striker Not Out During Melbourne Renegades vs Melbourne Stars BBL 2022–23 Match (Watch Video).

The ICC had earlier done the same for tournaments like Global T20 Canada and Fairbreak International and did not award List A status to these tournaments for the same reason. The inaugural edition of the ILT20 is set to start on January 13. The six-team tournament will have Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Dubai Capitals, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates, Desert Vipers, and Sharjah Warriors compete against each other in a total of 34 games. Abu Dhabi Knight Riders will face Dubai Capitals in the opening match of the tournament with the final being played on February 12.
