Meanwhile, England secured their first ever men’s World Cup title in its cricketing history even as New Zealand fell a step short for the second consecutive time. Ben Stokes was named the Player of the Match for his effort with the bat that kept England alive the game, which at one stage looked gone. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was named the Player of the Tournament.
