Kohli was initially trolled for reading the book with many fans advising the Indian skipper of reading more of such books in the future. That will help in preventing the alleged rifts with Rohit Sharma and Anil Kumble, said some netizens on social media. Kumble, a former India head coach. Had resigned from his post owing to differences and possible ‘ego’ problem with Kohli. Kumble, one of the greatest spinner of all-time, mentioned Kohli’s reservations and attitude problem with some of his approaches as the head coach.
Most recently, Kohli was also speculated to be in a rift with his deputy ODI skipper Rohit Sharma. The rift is said to have boiled after India was knocked out of the 2019 Cricket World Cup following an 18-run semi-final defeat against New Zealand. Sharma, along with few other Indian teammates, was disappointed with several decisions taken by the skipper Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri without consulting the other members of the Indian team.
Meanwhile, both Kohli and Rohit put all of their differences aside Kohli and played influential roles in guiding India to a double series win over West Indies in their own backyard. India clean-swept the T20I series 3-0, while also drawing a 2-0 blank in the ODI series. India currently leads the two-match Test series 1-0 and are aiming to complete a series whitewash in the Caribbean Island.
