The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is over and so is the tenure of India's coaching and support staff. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for the Indian cricket team's support staff including for the position of the head coach, which will be announced post India's tour of West Indies in August. However, there are several candidates and options available before the BCCI for the head coach position as many coaches from around the world will look to grab the post. Here are five coaches apart from Ravi Shastri who should apply for India's next coach.

Virender Sehwag

The former Indian opener was a nightmare for the bowlers and also might well be the right man to coach Team India. The 40-year-old has mentored Kings XI Punjab in the last four seasons and the franchise's players seemed quite happy with the 'Nawab of Najafgarh'. Sehwag also applied for the position during the last selection process but was over-looked. So, this time the COA might change their mind.

Tom Moody

The former Australian cricketer can also a good option for the job as the 53-year-old is associated with Sunrisers Hyderabad since the last few years and the team has done reasonably well under his stint. The Hyderabad Franchise has successfully made to the playoffs in the last four years and that fact might come in handy in giving Moody the post.

Ricky Ponting

The former Australian Cricketer is arguably the best captain in international cricket and has also done a decent job in his stint as a coach in the premier league. The 44-year-old  was associated with Delhi Capital in this season and the team reached the playoffs for the first time in seven years. So, COA might well appoint Ponting to replicate the success with the Indian team as well.

Mahela Jayawardene

The former Sri Lankan Captain is also an adequate option for the head coach as the former had a successful stint as an IPL mentor as well. The 42-year-old is currently associated with Mumbai Indian and has guided key Indian players like  Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah. Mumbai also lifted the trophy this year so this might well help the Sri Lankan legend in getting the contract.

Stephen Fleming

The former Kiwi captain is arguably the best coach in the history of the Indian Premier League and can be the idol choice for India's next head coach. The 46-year-old has been Chennai's coach for quite some time and has a reasonable exposure of the Indian Cricketers.  Fleming shares a good rapport with players like MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja and might do well as India's coach also.

Ravi Shastri was assigned the job of India's head coach in July 2017 and has done quite well at the position. After the completion of his tenure, the new applications will be considered and the cricket advisory committee will want to select someone who will do justice with the position.
