Team India Head Coach Selection: Mike Hesson Likely to Apply For the Job After Parting Ways with IPL Team Kings XI Punjab

IPL team Kings XI Punjab coach Mike Hesson resigned from his position on Thursday and he is likely to apply for the position of head coach of Indian Team. Hesson is a former coach of New Zealand too. Local media in New Zealand reported that the former Kiwi cricketer is going to apply for top cricket jobs in India and Pakistan cricket. Some reports also claimed that he has been shortlisted for the position of coach of Bangladesh. Bangladesh coach Steve Rhodes's contract was terminated by the Board earlier. Hesson is in the race with former South Africa coach Russell Domingo and ex-Sri Lanka boss Paul Farbrace for Bangladesh new head coach. IPL: Mike Hesson Parts Ways With Kings XI Punjab After One Season. 

Hesson coached KXIP for one season in IPL 2019. Leaving his position, he wrote on Twitter, “I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Kings XI franchise and wish to thank them for the season I had in charge. Whilst disappointed not to be able to build on the work we did this year, I’m sure success isn’t too far away for them. India team's head coach Ravi Shastri's contract ended after World Cup 2019 and the selectors are set to appoint the leader of Indian team again. Shastri has also re-applied for the position. The three-member committee including former cricketer Kapil Dev, ex-coach Anshuman Gaekwad and former India women’s captain Shantha Rangaswamy will appoint the future head coach of the Indian team. Ahead of the India’s tour of West Indies 2019, Virat Kohli had mentioned that he will be happy with Ravi Shastri getting back as the head of Indian team.

Pakistan cricket board has also ended the contracts of head coach Mickey Arthur, bowling coach Azhar Mahmood, batting coach Grant Flower and Grant Luden. PCB has announced that they will undertake the recruitment process for these posts soon. Tom Moody, Gary Kirsten are some of the names that are in the race for Team India head coach,
