Board of Control for Cricket in India will announce the head coach for the senior Indian cricket team at around 7 pm on August 16 (Friday) in Mumbai. The three-member cricket advisory committee (CAC), including World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev, will be attending the conference to make the announcement. Kapil Dev-led CAC will finalise the shortlist but will have no say in deciding the head coach for the next Indian cricket team head coach. Meanwhile, MSK Prasad led selection committee will be conducting the interviews for the support staff. Ravi Shastri leads the shortlist for the next Indian head coach, which also has former New Zealand and Kings XI Punjab coach Mike Hesson, Tom Moody, Phil Simmons, Robin Singh and Lalchand Rajput are the other names in the select shortlist for the top post.

Kapil Dav Arrives

Earlier, former Indian captain and head coach, Kapil Dev was seen arriving at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai for conducting the interviews. Five of the six candidates will be interviewed in person, while Shastri, who is in West Indies with the Indian cricket team is expected to give his interview over Skype at around 4 pm in the evening.

Seven vacant posts have been put up in an advertisement which includes batting coach, bowling coach, fielding coach, physiotherapist, strength and conditioning coach and administrative manager. The last date of application is July 30. Due to 45 days extension by BCCI after CWC 2019, Ravi Shastri and his team will continue to train India for the three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests which will be played against West Indies from August 3 to September 3.
