The fourth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is currently underway. The tournament kick-started on July 19 and will run for a month exactly with the final scheduled to be played on August 18. Tamil Nadu Premier League 2019 is a domestic T20 cricket league played in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is hosted by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) and had its inaugural edition in 2016. Eight teams are participating in TNPL 2019. Teams will play a total of 32 matches with former champions Chepauk Super Gillies playing Dindigul Dragons in the first match of the fourth edition. Each team in the TNPL must have at least 16 players and a maximum of 22 players in their squad, which includes two district players. The players draft was held on July 4 where all the players released by each team in TNPL were included so that they can find new teams. Dindigul Dragons, Chepauk Super Gillies, Karaikudi Kaalai, Ruby Trichy Warriors, TUTI Patriots, Siechem Madurai Panthers, Lyca Kovai Kings and VB Kanchi Veerans are the eight teams in the TNPL this season,

Siechem Madurai Panthers are the defending champions, while Tuti Patriots and Chennai Super Gillies and won the first two seasons. Tamil Nadu Premier League started in 2016 and has found great acceptance among the fans. The league is based on the lines of a successful Indian Premier League (IPL) model. Tuti Patriots won the inaugural season in 2016, while Chepauk Super Gillies clinched it in 2017. Madurai Panthers are the defending champions.

The tournament will be played in a round-robin format with the top-two placed teams getting two opportunities to make the final. The third and fourth-placed teams will first battle each other in an eliminator on August 11 with the winner taking on the loser of the first qualifier in a virtual semi-final clash on August 13. The final will be played on August 15.
