Suspended Australian Cricketer Steve Smith Marries Girlfriend Dani Willis
After being handed the one-year suspension, Smith participated in Global T20 Canada and Carribean Premier League (CPL T20). The former captain is likely to return to club cricket in Australia.
Former Australia captain Steve Smith, who is currently facing suspension for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal, on Saturday married his long-time girlfriend Dani Willis. The right-handed batsman took to his Instagram account and posted a picture of his with Dani. "Today I got to Marry my best friend. What an absolutely incredible day. @dani_willis looked unbelievably beautiful," Smith wrote in the caption. The duo was dating each other since 2011-12 after their first meeting during the inaugural season of the Big Bash League at a Sydney bar.
The photograph was captured by Melbourne-based wedding photographers Erin & Tara, who have been previously featured in Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Last year, Smith proposed to Dani on top of the Rockefeller Centre in New York in 2017. Dani has studied law and commerce at Macquarie University.
After being handed the one-year suspension, Smith participated in Global T20 Canada and Carribean Premier League (CPL T20). The former captain is likely to return to club cricket in Australia.
Smith, along with the then vice-captain David Warner and Cameron Bancroft were found involved in a ball-tampering scandal. In March this year, during the third Test between South Africa and Australia in Cape Town, Bancroft was caught on camera tampering with the condition of the ball. Smith then admitted to cheating during a press conference along with Bancroft.
After it was found that the trio was guilty, Cricket Australia (CA) banned Smith and Warner for one-year, while Bancroft was handed a nine-month ban.
