Surrey Schedule, County Championship 2018: Here is the List of Matches Virat Kohli is Likely to Feature for the County Side
Royal London One Day Cup and County Championship 2018 Schedule of Surrey for June 2018.
Recently Surrey County Cricket Club signed Indian captain and star batsman Virat Kohli for the month of June. Kohli, who is all set to skip India vs Afghanistan Test between June 14-18 in Bengaluru, has decided to prepare for the upcoming gruelling tour of England. In order to adapt to the conditions early, Kohli will land in England soon after the IPL 2018. His teammates Cheteshwar Pujara, Ishant Sharma and Varun Aaron are already playing the County Championship and Kohli will become the latest Indian Test cricketer to play for a County side. However, Kohli will be available for Surrey for just the month of June.
The 29-year-old Indian captain is likely to feature in three County Championship matches and at least three One-Day Cup games for Surrey. He will be making his debut for Surrey with a One Day match against Kent on June 01. Besides the three One Day fixtures, Kohli could play next round matches for Surrey, if they manage to go past the group stage.
Not just the Afghanistan Test, Kohli could miss two T20I matches on June 27 and 29 against Ireland as well. India’s England tour starts with a three-match T20I series from July 03 to 08. After that, the teams will lock horns in three ODIs as well. India tour of England concludes with an all-important five-match Test series, which starts on August 01.

After being signed by the club Kohli thanked Surrey’s Director of Cricket and former England cricketer Alec Stewart. The Indian captain said it was his ambition to play the country cricket. Stewart was also thrilled to have signed the biggest name in world cricket. He is hopeful that playing and training alongside Kohli will benefit Surrey players. He also felt that Kohli’s presence will be a massive boost for county cricket.
All eyes will be on Kohli once he begins his maiden county stint. Interestingly, when in 2004 India toured England, Kohli averaged just 13.40 in five Tests with a top score of meager 39. He faced a lot of criticism during the tour, but since then has raised his game.
