Suresh Raina celebrates his 33rd birthday on November 27, 2019 (Wednesday). The left-handed middle-order batsman was part of India's World Cup-winning team in 2011, which tasted World Cup glory after a wait of 28 years. His 34* and 36* in the quarter-finals and semis under intense pressure during India’s triumphant campaign was instrumental to the World Cup win. Raina has so far represented India in 226 ODIs and scored over 6000 runs with the help of five hundreds and 36 half-centuries but Raina has never been all about batting. His athleticism, fielding and catching capabilities made him one of the most complete players. On the field, Raina is akin to a bird, ready to fly, run and jump everywhere the white ball went.
Jonty Rhodes put him on the pedestal of modern fielding greats and even went to reveal how it wouldn’t have been possible for him to match Raina’s fielding standards. Raina has so far taken102 catches in 226 ODI matches for India, many of which have been eye-catching spectaculars. He also has 23 catches in 18 Test matches and 42 in 78 T20Is for India. On his 33rd birthday, take a look at some of the spectacular catches and rare-seen fielding instances, Raina pulled off.
