Steve Smith continued his rich vein of in colour clothing as well and scored a well-compiled 98 in the 2nd India vs Australia ODI at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Coming to bat at number three while chasing a mammoth total of 341 runs, the right-handed batsman paced his innings to perfection and looked all set to guide his team over the line but he felt two runs short from a well-deserved ton. Smith was watchful in the start of the innings and took the attack to the opposition after getting his feet settled. However, he was foxed by a googly from Kuldeep Yadav in the 38th over. India vs Australia, Cricket Score 2nd ODI Match.
Smith came into bat after the in-form Warner fell prey to Mohammed Shami in the fourth over. However, the batsman continued his love affair with the Indian bowlers and played a brilliant knock. During the course of his knock, the right-handed batsman hit eight boundaries and a giant six off Ravindra Jadeja too. Nevertheless, he wasn’t able to finish the game for his side and now, the onus is on the two Astons (Agar and Turner) to cause a turnaround.
Earlier in the day, Aaron Finch won the toss and invited the Indians to bat first. The opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan gave their side a flying start with the latter scoring 96 runs. Riding on the brilliant start, skipper Virat Kohli and KL Rahul wreaked havoc in the end overs and guided the home team to 340/6 in the first innings. In reply, the Men in Yellow have lost half their side with more than 100 runs to score and their victory is looking highly unlikely.
