Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their first win of the season as they defeated Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL 2019) match. Set a daunting target of 199 runs, Sunrisers completed it in the 19th over with five wickets in hand. It was Rashid Khan who smashed Jofra Archer for a four and a six on back to back balls to help his side win the match. The highlight of the match was Sanju Samson’s unbeaten 102 off 55 balls. Samson scored this season’s first century and his IPL career’s second to help Royals past 198 for two. Apart from him, Royals’ skipper Ajinkya Rahane scored 70 off 49 balls.

Sunrisers response began on a positive note with opening pair of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow putting on a century stand. In 9.4 overs, Warner and Bairstow added 110 runs. However, the home side lost three wickets in space of three runs and that brought Royals back in the game. Out of these three wickets, two came in Shreyas Gopal’s over on consecutive balls. With Williamson, Shankar and Manish Pandey back in the hutch, SRH lost their way. Yusuf Pathan and Rashid Khan then formed a valuable 34-run stand off 20 balls to help SRH cross the line.
