SRH vs RCB Stat Highlights, IPL 2024: Royal Challengers Bengaluru Return to Winning Ways In Its 250th Indian Premier League Match
After a month of their first win in IPL 2024, Faf du Plessis and co were able to add some points to their tally this season. This win against an in-form Sunrisers Hyderabad outfit will surely give them a lot of confidence going ahead into the remainder of their campaign.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally had something to be happy about in what has been a disappointing campaign as they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 35 runs in IPL 2024 on April 25. Fifties from the bats of Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar propelled RCB to 206/7 against a red-hot Sunrisers Hyderabad. The hosts have been in superb form all throughout the tournament especially with the bat and were expected to chase down this target. But RCB's bowlers struck the right lengths and lines and did not allow SRH to run away with the match, as they have done on a number of occasions this season. Eventually, the total proved to be 35 runs too many for Sunrisers Hyderabad, who succumbed to their first home loss and third overall defeat this season. For RCB, this win brought an end to a six-match losing streak. And it has come exactly a month after their first victory in IPL 2024! IPL 2024 Points Table Updated With Net Run Rate.
Kohli started with a bang in the powerplay, but questions were raised on his strike-rate after failing to accelerate later in his knock. He held one end strongly with 51 runs off 43 balls, but Rajat Patidar's breezy half-century gave RCB the impetus they needed. Patidar smashed five sixes, including four in one over and struck two fours en route to a 19-ball fifty. Skipper Faf du Plessis (25 off 12), Cameron Green (37 off 20) and Swapnil Singh (12 off six) made useful contributions as well. Jaydev Unadkat starred in his 100th IPL match with 3/30 while T Natarajan took two wickets. In response, RCB's bowlers put pressure on SRH right from the outset. Will Jacks dealt a big blow to SRH by dismissing the in-form Travis Head for just one run and later, RCB's Impact Player Swapnil Singh bowled a game-changing over where he got the wickets of Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen. The Sunrisers kept losing wickets at regular intervals and never got going in this chase. Shahbaz Ahmed scored 40* off 37 balls and Pat Cummins' 31 off 15 balls were the only significant knocks for the hosts apart from Abhishek Sharma's 13-ball 31. For RCB, Swapnil Singh, Cameron Green and Karn Sharma took two wickets apiece while Will Jacks and Yash Dayal took one each.
