26 Dec, 21:11 (IST)

Opting to bowl first, South Africa bundled out Pakistan for 211, with bowlers Dane Peterson and Corbin Bosch claiming nine wickets between them. For Pakistan, only Kamran Ghulam showcased resilience, while all-rounder Aamir Jamel's quick-fire knock propelled the visitors past the 200-run mark. Pakistan managed to pick early wickets to rattle the home side, but Aiden Markram and captain Temba Bavuma held fort, took the Proteas to safety at stumps on Day 1.

26 Dec, 21:05 (IST)

Pakistan will be disappointed with the performance on Day 1, while South Africa will be the most happy of both sides. Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma have managed to stop the bleeding for the hosts and ensured South Africa's go-to stumps with just three-wickets down.

26 Dec, 20:35 (IST)

OUT! Just as things were looking solid for South Africa, Mohammad Abbas got rid of Tristan Stubbs. Stubbs fell victim to the lowness of the ball rather than the bowler's artistry with the delivery. Tristan Stubbs lbw b Mohammed Abbas 9(28)

26 Dec, 20:20 (IST)

After the fall of quick wickets, Aiden Markram, and Tristan Stubbs have managed to stabilise South Africa's innings. Stubbs and Markram have added 33 off 38, and played attacking cricket, especially the latter, having already slammed seven fours in his 37.

26 Dec, 19:53 (IST)

OUT! This is a near-perfect start for Pakistan, who wanted wickets upfront, and Khurram Shahzad is providing them with that. Ryan Rickelton wanted to push outside the off-stump line, which the batter did and perished giving a simple catch to the wicketkeeper. Ryan Rickelton c Rizwan b Khurram Shahzad 8(10)

26 Dec, 19:30 (IST)

OUT! Khurram Shahzad provides Pakistan early breakthrough. An unplayable delivery to rid of Tony de Zorzi, who got undone by the late inswing, which the bowler got. Tony de Zorzi b Khurram Shahzad 2(8)

26 Dec, 19:21 (IST)

South African openers are out in the middle, and both Tony de Zorzi and Aiden Markram will look to weather away the dangerous new-ball. Pakistan will bank on Mohammad Abbas to provide their side with early inroads.

26 Dec, 19:09 (IST)

OUT!  Marco Jansen gets rid of Khurram Shahzad, thus Pakistan's innings come to a start just as the post-tea session begins.  Shahzad and Mohammad Abbas showcased resistance for 44 balls before the former fell for 11. Khurram Shahzad c Paterson b Marco Jansen 11(16)

26 Dec, 18:12 (IST)

OUT! Corbin Bosch claims his fourth wicket and could very well claim a Test fifer on debut. Naseem Shah looked to push the ball and managed to lob the ball towards Kagiso Rabada, who stood at mid-on. Naseem Shah c Rabada b Corbin Bosch 0(2)

26 Dec, 18:10 (IST)

OUT! Dane Paterson removes the dangerous Salman Agha and claims his second Test five-wicket haul. Agha looked to pull the ball and managed to get the toe-end of the bat, that went straight into the hands of the point fielder. Salman Agha c Rickelton b Dane Paterson 18(34)

26 Dec, 18:03 (IST)

OUT! Finally, South Africa got rid of Aamir Jamel. Corbin Bosch managed to rattle the Pakistan all-rounder's stumps, after getting slapped for a massive six on the earlier ball. South Africa showcased complacency in the field, having dropped Aamir Jamel as many as two times in two overs. Both times Aamir edged the ball, and Tristan Stubbs standing in the slip cordon missed the catch. Jamel along with Salman Agha are nearing their added 47 runs for the seventh wicket. Aamer Jamal b Corbin Bosch 28(27)

26 Dec, 17:22 (IST)

OUT! Dane Paterson is on fire. Paterson gets his fourth wicket of the match and gets his second wicket in as many overs. Mohammed Rizwan looked to push outside the off-stump line and handed a simple catch in the slips. Mohammed Rizwan c Markram b Dane Paterson 27(62)

26 Dec, 17:10 (IST)

OUT! Dane Paterson gets the big fish Kamran Ghulam. Ghulam looked to take the Test away from South Africa's grasp with his counter-attacking knock. Ghulam scored a quickfire 54 off 71 balls, which included eight fours and one six. Kamran Ghulam c Rabada b Dane Paterson 54(71)

26 Dec, 16:52 (IST)

FIFTY! Kamran Ghulam has continued his good form in the Test. Ghulam has played an attacking knock and managed to reach his half-century in 52 balls. Ghulam could have been a goner on 48 if Marco Jansen held on to his catch in the gully region.

26 Dec, 16:18 (IST)

Pakistan will look for inspiration from Mohammad Rizwan, and Kamran Ghulam, who are looking to take their team to safety in the post-lunch. The duo have added 35 runs in merely 44 balls. South Africa will look to make inroads into a thin late middle order.

26 Dec, 15:22 (IST)

Since the fall of Suad Shakeel, Kamran Ghulam has counter-attacked the South African bowlers, who gained the upper hand in the first half of the first session. Ghulam despite scoring three fours and a six, has been lucky to survive a few close calls as well.

26 Dec, 15:06 (IST)

OUT! Corbin Bosch gets his second wicket on Test debut. Saud Shakeel's weird stay in the middle comes to an end. Bosch tempted Shakeel with a short ball, and the batter perished while trying to play the pull shot. Saud Shakeel c Verreynne b Corbin Bosch 14(6)

26 Dec, 14:56 (IST)

OUT! Things are going downhill here for Pakistan as they now lose Babar Azam. Dane Paterson takes his second wicket and Pakistan are now three down. Babar Azam c Aiden Markram b Dane Paterson 4 (11)

26 Dec, 14:48 (IST)

OUT! Pakistan are two down in quick succession. Saim Ayub was already struggling and Dane Paterson took the opportunity to take him down. The drinks break has been a great game-changing point for the Proteas. Saim Ayub c Kyle Verreynne b Dane Paterson

26 Dec, 14:40 (IST)

OUT!  It is a dream start for Corbin Bosch! The debutant stuns the Pakistan captain Shan Masood. A big moment for the Proteas as Pakistan are now one down. Shan Masood c Marco Jansen b Corbin Bosch 17 (58)
