Opting to bowl first, South Africa bundled out Pakistan for 211, with bowlers Dane Peterson and Corbin Bosch claiming nine wickets between them. For Pakistan, only Kamran Ghulam showcased resilience, while all-rounder Aamir Jamel's quick-fire knock propelled the visitors past the 200-run mark. Pakistan managed to pick early wickets to rattle the home side, but Aiden Markram and captain Temba Bavuma held fort, took the Proteas to safety at stumps on Day 1. 

Pakistan will be disappointed with the performance on Day 1, while South Africa will be the most happy of both sides. Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma have managed to stop the bleeding for the hosts and ensured South Africa's go-to stumps with just three-wickets down.

After the fall of quick wickets, Aiden Markram, and Tristan Stubbs have managed to stabilise South Africa's innings. Stubbs and Markram have added 33 off 38, and played attacking cricket, especially the latter, having already slammed seven fours in his 37. 

OUT! This is a near-perfect start for Pakistan, who wanted wickets upfront, and Khurram Shahzad is providing them with that. South African openers are out in the middle, and both Tony de Zorzi and Aiden Markram will look to weather away the dangerous new-ball. Pakistan will bank on Mohammad Abbas to provide their side with early inroads.

OUT! Finally, South Africa got rid of Aamir Jamel. Corbin Bosch managed to rattle the Pakistan all-rounder's stumps, after getting slapped for a massive six on the earlier ball. South Africa showcased complacency in the field, having dropped Aamir Jamel as many as two times in two overs. Both times Aamir edged the ball, and Tristan Stubbs standing in the slip cordon missed the catch. FIFTY! Kamran Ghulam has continued his good form in the Test. Ghulam has played an attacking knock and managed to reach his half-century in 52 balls. Ghulam could have been a goner on 48 if Marco Jansen held on to his catch in the gully region. 

Pakistan will look for inspiration from Mohammad Rizwan, and Kamran Ghulam, who are looking to take their team to safety in the post-lunch. The duo have added 35 runs in merely 44 balls. South Africa will look to make inroads into a thin late middle order. 

Since the fall of Suad Shakeel, Kamran Ghulam has counter-attacked the South African bowlers, who gained the upper hand in the first half of the first session. Ghulam despite scoring three fours and a six, has been lucky to survive a few close calls as well.
