Along with Ganguly, some new top members of the BCCI were also appointed. Union Home Minister Amit Shah's son Jay Shah was appointed as new BCCI secretary. Former BCCI’s President Anurag Thakur's younger brother Arun Dhumal was appointed as the new treasurer. Jayesh George took over as the new joint secretary. Ganguly was unanimously appointed as the BCCI chief by the members. The former Indian skipper is also President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and will continue with the position till September 2020.
After his appointed, the 47-year-old former cricketer said that his priority will be to look after first-class cricketers. He also said that Ravi Shastri will continue to be the Team India Head Coach and will not need to be reappointed. Shastri was recently appointed as Team India Coach after ICC World Cup 2019. The Kolkata cricketer Ganguly also said that he will look into the matter of MS Dhoni’s future in Indian cricket.
