The big daddies of the BCCI met in Mumbai on Sunday to elect the President of the BCCI and at the end of the day, it was none other than the former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly who emerged as the leader. If reports are to be believed, Ganguly will be the new President of the BCCI whereas, Brijesh Patel is likely to bag the position of IPL Chairman. Brijesh Patel was leading the race to be the new President of the BCCI. But the former Indian captain was quite clear of wanting only one post. BCCI Polls: Sourav Ganguly Likely to Be President, Brijesh Patel IPL Chairman

Until Sunday afternoon it was Ganguly’s name that emerged as the top contender but a few believe that the names like Jay Shah and Brijesh Patel could be slightly ahead. Ganguly was even offered a post of IPL Chairman, but it is being said that the former Indian captain turned down the offer at around 6 p.m. on Sunday evening.

"The old warhorses felt that the way forward was to have equal representation, and while only five names can be given for the top spots, the Apex Council will also see a similar widespread representation. The idea is to give people their right to express themselves," a BCCI functionary told IANS. It would be interesting to see how the Supreme Court plays a part in disqualifying eight members for not complying with the newly registered constitution of the BCCI. The members are yet to decide on who will represent the BCCI at the ICC.
