Sourav Ganguly congratulated India’s stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma and the Indian team for their stupendous show at Asia Cup 2018, where India beat Bangladesh in the last-ball thriller. However, his congratulatory tweet saw a can of worms being opened as he questioned Rohit’s exclusion from India’s Test team.
In his tweet, the former captain of the Indian cricket team seemed positive about Rohit Sharma’s spot in the Test team. On his Twitter account, Sourav Ganguly wrote, “Great win Rohit and the team @ImRo45 .. u were exceptional...I get surprised every time I don’t see ur name in the test team ..it’s not far away..”

Ganguly’s question arose from the fact that Rohit Sharma has been India’s second-best performer at the recently finished Asia Cup 2018, behind Shikhar Dhawan. Keeping the tough Australia Tour, later this year, in mind, Rohit Sharma could have been given a chance in the Test squad; however, he was not selected.
The Indian selectors picked up a 15-member squad for the two-match Test series against West Indies, starting next week. Where the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Karun Nair, and Dinesh Karthik were not picked, selectors announced Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari’s place in the side.
India's Test Squad Against West Indies: Virat Kohli (c), KL Rahul, Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (vc), Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur.
The Test series will see captain Virat Kohli return from a three-week break, too. Also, despite his below-par performance in the recently concluded Test series in England, Ajinkya Rahane was appointed as his deputy. Wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant also retained his place in the side over Karthik. West Indies Tour of India 2018 Schedule: Windies to Play 2 Tests, 5 ODIs and 3 T20I, Check Complete Time-Table.
